Corey James Signature String Guide
Most string through body guitars use ferrules on the top and back of the guitar. While I will use ferrules on the back of the instrument to capture the ball end of the string, I make wooden string guides for the top of the body.
Here are some of the benefits of using the wooden guide over a typical ferrule.
- The guide has a smoother, curved channel for the string to rest on to make the transition out of the body. The radius that is milled into the guide is greater then what you can achieve by simply filing a ferrule, and is less of a fatigue point for the string.
- The top of the guide is curved to match the radius of the saddles on the Tone Pros bridge. While this attention to detail is mostly cosmetic, it does allow for a more consistent tension between strings behind the bridge.
- More wood used in a creative way allows the customer to create a 'theme' with their guitar. Rather then just having an ebony fingerboard for example, you could accent the body with an ebony guide. You could also spec an ebony headstock veneer, or add ebony control knobs & tuning pegs.
- The guide further compliments the carve of the guitar by accenting the curves in the plateau shape.
If you are interested in having a custom CJ made for you without the string guide, I will accommodate you.
