CJ Single CJ Double

When I set out to design these guitars I wanted to give them a look of their own. The guitar had to be original and have a modern appearance, while retaining a classic vibe.

Complex Carve
Complex Carve The carve had to be interesting and complex. I wanted to be able to express not only the silhouette of the guitar, but other contours within the design as well. Distinctive plateau shapes are one unique aspect of these carves. Plateau Shape

Sub Plateau Ridgeline The single cut carve design takes this one step further by incorporating a 'sub plateau' which is divided by a curved ridgeline extending through it.

Angled Plateau
Angled Carve Each guitar is carved with the plateau kicked off on an angle to compliment the angled set neck and allow for a balanced pickup height above the wood. My carve design requires me to begin with over 1 inch of select tonewood for the top wood. After all the sawdust hits the floor, the carve top will measure 7/8" from the binding line to the highest point of the carve. Some builders could yield several tops from the amount of wood that I use to build just one guitar.

Contoured Chambers
Contoured Chambers The carve removes enough wood to allow for a balanced sound between the top and back woods. Your guitar can also be chambered to further adjust the sound and lighten the body. Chambers are milled to the same contours of the carve.

The Choice Is Yours
A guitar's shape can affect the sound that it creates. Some believe that a heavier guitar will provide more 'punch' to its sound. I want the customer to choose the design they prefer and adjust the sound they are after with the woods, thicknesses, and electronics used. Therefore, I am proud to say that the difference in area between the single and the double cut is within 0.05".
